What is a pop-up window?

Pop-up windows are small Web browser windows or advertisements that appear over or under the Web page you are currently viewing.  They are frequently used for advertising and open automatically whether or not you want to see them.  They may also open at your request and show help text or another page of a site.

Occasionally, a new browser window may open when you click on a link on our site.  These user-initiated pop-up windows only open after you request them by clicking on a link.
TexasOne Community Credit Union does not use pop-up windows to collect personal information or to advertise.

If the credit union does not use pop-up advertisements, why do they sometimes appear on your website?

Some software, such as free music-sharing programs or screensavers, display pop-up advertisements at random intervals based upon your Web-surfing habits.
Although some of these software programs may simply present annoying pop-up advertisements, others may also contain “Trojan Horse” programs similar to a computer virus.  If your browser security is turned to low, these programs are sometimes able to install themselves just because you visited certain Web sites.
Several companies offer software that will allow you to rid your computer of these unwanted programs.  Although TexasOne Community Credit Union does not endorse a specific program, you can learn more about the alternatives available by searching for the term “adware” in your favorite search engine.

How does a pop-up blocker work?

Your pop-up blocker prevents pop-up windows from opening, depending on the pop-up blocker settings you have chosen. For Windows XP users using Internet Explorer, setting the pop-up blocker to "High" will usually block all pop-ups (both automatic and user-initiated), while setting pop-up blocker to "low" will allow all pop-ups to display.

Some links on your website do not work.  How do I access this information?

If you click on a link that does not work, you may have pop-up blocking software on your computer or a pop-up blocker enabled in your browser. These programs sometimes interfere with the opening of user-initiated pop-up windows you do want to see, as well as automatic pop-ups you don’t want to see. (Another reason a link may not work is that you have JavaScript disabled. This may be something you did manually, or it may be because you set your browser security settings to high.)
To open the link, you can either disable your pop-up blocker or hold the CTRL key while clicking on the link. For Windows XP users using Internet Explorer, you may see an information bar appear below the address bar on your browser notifying you that a pop-up window has been blocked. Click on this information bar and choose "temporarily allow pop-ups," then click the link again to open the pop-up window.
You can also choose:

  1. Always allow pop-ups from this site.
  2. Enter *.texasoneccu.com to the Address of Web site to allow box. (don't forget to include the *).
  3. Click Add.

How do I change the Pop-up Blocker settings in Internet Explorer?
On the Tools menu, point to Pop-up Blocker, and then click Pop-up Blocker Settings. Then choose one of the following:

  • High: Block all pop-ups
  • Medium: Block most automatic pop-ups
  • Low: Allow pop-ups from secure sites

We recommend that you choose the default Medium setting.

Browser Questions

How do I know if my online session is encrypted?
Why do I need to upgrade my browser?
Which browsers does TexasOne Community Credit Union’s website support?

How do I know if my online session is encrypted?

From the moment account information leaves your computer to the time it enters TexasOne Community Credit Union’s system, all online access and Bill Pay sessions are encrypted. TexasOne Community Credit Union employs some of the strongest forms of encryption commercially available for use on the Web today.

During any transaction, our 128-bit encryption turns your information into a coded sequence with billions of possible variations, making it nearly impossible for unwanted intruders to decipher. The credit union’s computers possess the proper formulas to turn this code back into meaningful information and complete your transaction.

Any Web address beginning with “https://...” indicates the page you are viewing uses encryption. The “s” stands for “secured.” Every page on TexasOne Community Credit Union’s CU Online Account Access program is secure.

Why do I need to upgrade my browser?

For security reasons, browsers occasionally "expire" their ability to perform sensitive transactions such as Internet banking. In order to maintain our high degree of customer security, TexasOne Community Credit Union’s CU Online does not allow you to access your accounts online using an expired browser. To continue to access your TexasOne Community Credit Union account(s) online, some customers will need to upgrade to a newer supported version of their preferred browser.

Which browsers does TexasOne Community Credit Union’s website support?

TexasOne Community Credit Union supports the following browsers:
Netscape® 7.XX - 8.0.X (except for 8.0)
Microsoft® Internet Explorer (MSIE) 6.XX
Apple Safari 1.XX (version 85.6 and higher, except for 100) - 2.X
America Online® 4.0 - AOL 8.0 for Windows; use with MSIE 6.0

If your Internet connection is slower than 28.8, or if you are using an old browser, you may experience difficulty downloading and installing the latest browser versions. We strongly recommend that you order a new browser version on a CD through Microsoft's or Netscape's Web site. For assistance with Safari browser, please contact 1-800-MY-APPLE.
For your protection, TexasOne Community Credit Union does not support beta versions of browsers. Under normal circumstances, the credit union will support the final version of a browser shortly after the release date. The credit union regularly monitors and tests browsers to ensure the highest security standards for our customers.
To provide our customers the most effective and secure online access to their accounts, we are continually upgrading our online services. As we add new features and enhancements to our service, older browser versions or Internet devices like WebTV may not support these new standards. Upgrading to a new version will enhance your security.
